Dom Pipkin is a piano player from London UK. Taught himself the blues alongside "the grades" as a kid, dug into jazz sometime after, and was booted out of the Royal Academy Of Music sometime in '92.
Dom plays solo piano and sings, referencing a load of old New Orleans favourites, such as Professor Longhair, Huey "Piano" Smith, Lee Dorsey, James Booker, and leads his own group - The Iko's . (We say "Ikoes" , as in the song "Iko Iko") . This contains the chunky talents of Allesandro "Bubu" Canini on drums, Alex Keen on basses, and Tony Rico on reeds. If you like Jon Cleary, Smiley Lewis, Lloyd Price, Fats Domino etc, then you should dig the band.
As a sideman, Dom works/has worked with Kevin Davy Group, Morcheeba - on "Big Calm", David Byrne, Shy FX, Cornershop, Lauren Dalrymple, Trudi Kerr, John O Leary, Pauline Black, Errol Linton's Blues Vibe, Martina Topley-Bird. He also now the keyboard player with the lovely Paloma Faith.
