The Fat River Band formed in 2001 around long time friends Alister, Jason, Roger, James and Matt. Taking influences from The Band, Steve Earle and The Dixie Chicks, the band started performing locally to enthusiastic reviews. Mixing acoustic and electric sounds, the band were able to bring elements of country, blues, boogie and rock to a wide audience and became quickly known as an exciting and eclectic live act. Late 2004 saw the line-up expanding with the addition of guitarist Russell.
With sessions for The Last Great Guitar Heist nearing completion by mid 2005, the band started to concentrate all its efforts and finances on finishing and promoting Heist, including TV appearances and numerous radio interviews. Recorded entirely at the bands now infamous BigSqueak studios, the band have crafted a highly polished product that has received rave reviews from music industry critics and live audiences alike. Having successfully launched the album at a private party at the end of 2005 and with press interviews scheduled throughout the Christmas period, the band have proved that they are capable of delivering an extremely unique sound and an unrivalled live show.
2006 will see the band embarking on an extensive UK tour as well as playing a number of festival dates throughout the summer. With work on their follow-up album scheduled to start in early March, The Fat River Band will be the act to watch on the growing UK Americana scene.
