Blur have been one of Britain's most popular bands for many years.
Their first UK top ten single was the baggy-influenced There's No Other Way, but it was the genre-defining album Parklife and single Girls and Boys that saw them become the leaders of the emerging "Britpop" scene. Although this was a label they would later distance themselves from, one cannot dispute the influence they had in the creation of this scene.
Since then, Blur have experimented with many different sounds, from the alt-rock anthem Song 2, to the heart-rendering Tender and recent hit Out of Time.
Despite the departure of guitarist Graham Coxon to work on solo material, and singer Damon Albarn's numerous side projects (including the electronic band Gorillaz), Blur remain as vital as ever, and, as demonstrated by their recent Greatest Hits collection, one of Britain's most important bands.
