Australian singer/guitarist Michael Meeking and Vanda Woolsey the ‘virtuoso violinist from Limavady’ formed a duo in 2001, teaming up with former Kent musicians Niall Oates and Andy Jones of Ronnie Scott’s Rejects in 2002 to form Booty. Together they combine a hard-edged folk sound with the timeless pop classics of the 60s, the school disco hits of the 70s and 80s right up to the present day indie pop.
Booty was formed with the understanding that although a cover band, they would have a slightly different approach than other bands by using different instrumentation and adding a splash of vocal harmony. They cover music from the Beatles, Stones, Van the Man to Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Pogues, Proclaimers and Beastie Boys.
The band has a versatility allowing for background music to be played when required early evening then adapting to more up-tempo tunes to fit the party spirit. Sing along choruses are a must!
Booty’s cover material is enough to stuff a duvet the size of Australia ! Calling upon pop idols of the past their set is made up of non stop dance floor hits and they are always equipped for a fun time party evening.
