Although front-room jam sessions had taken place for a couple of years, it was not until the band were called upon to play at a Birthday Bash that Happy Daze ventured into the outside world. The Bass guitar at this time was passed around like a hot potato, as no one wanted to play it permanently. Barry the drummer's attempts to play Bass while drumming were so pitiful that Tony the lead vocalist stepped into the role for health & safety reasons. This first gig was succesful enough to launch Happy Daze on an ongoing World Tour of East Kent, covering many hits from the last five decades.
