From the Garage Website:
Mean Fiddler opened The Garage in 1993. It quickly established itself as the capital's finest indie and rock venue. The Garage has played host to such classic cult artist’s as Dick Dale, Link Wray and Love and many bands who are now household names played some of their earliest shows there including Spiritualized, Catatonia, Supergrass, Placebo, Afghan Whigs, Dinosaur Jr, the Boo Radleys, Elastica, and Radiohead.
Playing a show at The Garage is almost a right of passage for many bands. Such is the reputation of The Garage overseas, that it’s the first choice venue for many American acts when playing in London. Rocket from the Crypt played their debut UK show here and cult bands such as Guided By Voices and the late great Morphine returned time and time again whilst some of the biggest bands in American rock such as The Offspring and The Deftones have chosen the venue for secret club shows.
1997 saw the creation of an entirely separate room within the venue. The Minibar is a welcome addition and is enjoyed as much by gig goers before and after shows as locals just popping in for a drink or two. It has a relaxed and convivial atmosphere, and can lay claim to possibly the coolest and most up-to-date jukebox in town.
The Garage continues to host an international line-up of the best new talent alongside a great many respected and established artists.
