A three-piece blues/rock band performing cover versions of songs from the 60's to the 80's. Songs by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Rory Gallagher and Johnny Kidd & The Pirates, to name a few. Depending on the booking, we have a 'party' set which offers some great foot tappers, or a more blues orientated set for more serious music fans. The band has been around in a different line up for a few years, achieving stardom in Norway. Guitarist and singer Tony Gooda was even interviewed on Norwegian radio! The last five years have seen the present line-up, where Tony is joined by Jeff Schofield on bass, and Phil Lovett on drums, perform at various venues in Kent and Sussex.
Fred Slater himself, you'll notice, is not actually in the band. No, he was a South London pub landlord who was tragically killed about two hundred years ago when he fell down the steps to the cellar. Years later, he came back to haunt the band that rehearsed there, by dimming the lights and making strange sounds. (Stranger than the band themselves even!). His name was discovered behind a wall which was removed when the pub underwent some alterations. His name now lives on, as the band decided there was only one name they could be called....The Fred Slater Band.
We play a selection of rock and blues songs from the 60's to 80's.
