Lightning Threads

Lightning Threads are a Sheffield-based trio who channel the raw pulse of blues-rock through dual vocals, fuzzed-out riffs, and a rhythm section that never lets up. Formed in 2019, the band features Tom Jane (vocals, guitar), Sam Burgam (vocals, bass), and Hugh Butler (drums, keys)—three players locked into a groove-heavy sound that’s as tight as it is unfiltered.

They’ve carved out a reputation on the northern circuit with headline sets at The Leadmill and The Greystones, and festival slots alongside Bez, Beans on Toast, and Sandi Thom. Their live shows don’t lean on spectacle—they hit hard, play loud, and leave nothing behind. It’s blues, but not as you know it: leaner, louder, and laced with grit.

BBC Introducing and RGM Magazine have both picked up on their singles Take a Mile and Never Cry, praising the band’s vintage edge and modern bite. Lightning Threads aren’t here to revive the blues—they’re here to rough it up and drag it somewhere new.
