Rosalie Cunningham

Born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex in 1990, Rosalie Cunningham began her musical journey early, forming her first band at school and quickly gaining attention for her distinctive voice and vintage-inspired songwriting. She first emerged on the UK music scene in 2007 as the frontwoman of the all-female psychedelic group Ipso Facto, known for their gothic aesthetic and art-rock sensibility.

Following Ipso Facto’s dissolution, Cunningham founded Purson in 2011—a band that fused glam rock, progressive structures, and occult-tinged lyrics. Purson’s debut album The Circle and the Blue Door (2013) and follow-up Desire’s Magic Theatre (2016) earned widespread acclaim for their lush arrangements and theatrical scope, positioning Cunningham as a singular voice in modern rock.

Since 2017, she has performed under her own name, releasing her self-titled debut solo album in 2019. The record was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and praised by outlets like Classic Rock, Mojo, and Kerrang! for its meticulous production and mind-bending songwriting. Her 2022 follow-up, Two Piece Puzzle, further cemented her reputation as a visionary artist, blending whimsical storytelling with razor-sharp musicianship.

A multi-award-winning performer, Cunningham is celebrated not only for her musical prowess on guitar, keyboards, and vocals but also for her magnetic stage presence and uncompromising artistic vision.
